Level 3 Award Qualification: FAA Level 3 Award in Emergency Paediatric First Aid

This qualification is designed for learners who have a responsibility for the care of children and babies, providing essential knowledge and skills to address a variety of paediatric first aid situations and incidents. The goal of this qualification is to equip learners with the practical competence needed to handle a range of emergency first aid training scenarios involving children.
The FAA Emergency Paediatric First Aid qualification is Unit 1 of the comprehensive two-day FAA Paediatric First Aid qualification. After successfully completing this Emergency Paediatric First Aid course, learners can progress to Unit 2, ultimately leading to the 2-day FAA Award in Paediatric First Aid, which is vital for workplace safety training.

A range of subjects is covered in our Emergency First Aid Training, including:
- Role of the Paediatric First Aider
- Primary survey
- Resuscitation (CPR including the safe use of an AED)
- Wounds, bleeding & shock
- Seizure
- Choking
- Minor injuries
- Recovery position
Certification: The Paediatric First Aid qualification is valid for three years from the date of achievement. It is recommended that the learner attend annual refresher training to enhance their skills in workplace safety training. To requalify for a further three years, the learner will need to complete the full course again.
Duration: The Total Qualification Time (TQT) is 7 hours, with at least 6 Guided Learning Hours (GLH) in the classroom, plus some pre-course study. This qualification can be delivered over a maximum of a 4-week period, with each training session being a minimum of 2 hours.

Additional Training: The HSE strongly recommends that all students participate in an annual three-hour refresher programme, which TrainSafe-UK provides for free as part of our ongoing client support. This is especially important for those involved in Emergency First Aid Training and Workplace Safety Training.
Age limit: To qualify, students must be at least 16 years old.
Numbers: This course can accommodate a maximum of 12 students, ensuring personalized attention for each participant.
Assessment information: The qualification is assessed through practical demonstration and oral questioning. A learner must successfully pass a practical assessment to receive their qualification. There is no grading system for the assessment; learners either pass or are referred.
The certificate will expire as indicated on the certificate, regardless of the holder's age.
