This comprehensive Two-day qualification is designed for outdoor professionals and employees who work in rural or remote environments. This outdoor first aid course will enable learners to undertake the role of the First Aider when emergency medical assistance is more than 30 minutes away.
It will provide learners with the skills and knowledge necessary to respond to a range of emergency outdoor situations, including when and how to move a casualty, managing major illnesses and injuries, administering CPR, and handling an unresponsive casualty.
Duration: The minimum classroom contact time of 16 hours must be delivered over at least 2 days or can be spread over a maximum of 9 weeks, with each session lasting at least 2 hours.

Certification: The qualification is valid for three years from the date of achievement. Learners will need to complete the full course again to requalify for a further three years. It should be noted that if the qualification expires, a person is no longer considered competent to act as a first aider in the workplace.

Additional Training:
The HSE strongly recommends that all students participate in an annual three-hour refresher programme. TrainSafe-UK offers this for free as part of our ongoing client support for first aid courses.
Assessment: The assessment consists of a practical demonstration, oral questioning, and a written assessment paper. Scenarios will be designed to enable learners to showcase the skills and knowledge they have gained, including those relevant to outdoor first aid.
A maximum of 12 students is allowed, and they must be at least 16 years old. A certificate can be awarded to all, subject to successful assessment.
A learner cannot assume responsibility in the workplace until they reach the age of 16, and it is the employer’s duty to ensure that the individual is suitable for that role.
