Paediatric First Aid at Work

Course Duration - 2-Day Emergency First Aid Training (15 Hours Total). Qualification - 3 Year FFA Level 3 Qualification awarded by an FFA-accredited body. 

T This two-day qualification fulfils the requirements for first aid training detailed in the Department for Education’s statutory framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage. 


We accommodate a maximum of 12 candidates per course, ensuring personalised attention. All necessary equipment is provided, and training is delivered UK-wide, either on-site or at one of our locations. You can book a date that works for you with flexible options for Workplace Safety Training, including our comprehensive Paediatric First Aid Course.

Level 3 Award Qualification: FAA Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid


Unit 1 title: Emergency Paediatric First Aid Unit Unit 2 title: Managing Paediatric Illness, Injury and Emergencies


Ofsted and the Early Years Foundation Stage. This two-day qualification meets the requirements for Emergency First Aid Training as outlined in the Department for Education’s statutory framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage.


Duration Total qualification Time (TQT) is 15 hours, with at least 12 Guided Learning Hours (GLH) in the classroom over a minimum of 2 days, plus independent pre- and post-course study. The Paediatric First Aid Course can be delivered over a maximum of 6 weeks, with each training session lasting at least 2 hours, ensuring effective Workplace Safety Training.

• Role of the Paediatric First Aider

 • Seizure • Diabetic emergencies 

• Primary survey 

• Choking 

• Asthma 

• Resuscitation (CPR including the safe use of an AED) 

• Minor injuries 

• Meningitis 

• Wounds, bleeding and shock 

• Recovery position 

• Febrile convulsions

 • Allergic reactions, including anaphylaxis 

• Fractures 

• Extreme cold and heat 

• Head, neck and back injuries 

• Foreign bodies

 • Electrical incidents

Additional Training: The HSE strongly recommends that all students participate in an annual three-hour refresher programme, which TrainSafe-UK provides free of charge as part of our ongoing client support for Paediatric First Aid Training and Workplace Safety Training.


Age limit: To qualify, students must be at least 16 years old.


Numbers: This course can accommodate up to 12 students, ensuring personalised attention for each participant.


The qualification is assessed both through practical demonstration and a written assessment. A learner must successfully pass both the written and practical assessments to achieve the qualification. There is no grading of the assessment; learners pass or are referred.


Certification: The qualification is valid for three years from the date of achievement. It is recommended that the learner attend annual refresher training, including courses such as the Paediatric First Aid Course. The learner will need to complete the full course again to requalify for a further three years.
