Unit 1 title: Emergency First Aid in the Workplace Unit code:
Unit 2 title: Recognition and Management of Illness and Injury in the Workplace
Learners will refresh the skills and knowledge necessary to deliver effective Emergency First Aid and provide high-quality First Aid Training within the organisation, enabling them to treat casualties promptly, safely, and effectively.
Duration: A minimum of 12 hours of contact hours over 2 days. Ideally, the course should be conducted over two consecutive days, but it can also be spread over a longer period if preferred, as long as it is completed within 7 weeks of the course start date. Each training session should last at least 2 hours to ensure comprehensive Workplace Safety Training.

This Emergency First Aid training covers a comprehensive range of subjects essential for workplace safety, including:
- Legalities, Responsibilities, and Reporting
- Assessment of the situation
- Dealing with an unresponsive casualty
- Basic hygiene in First Aid
- Resuscitation and AED awareness
- Anatomy
- Fractures and Spinal Injuries
- Head Injuries
- Minor injuries, Sprains, and Strains
- Bleeding control
- Burns, Stroke
- Diabetes
- Asthma
- Choking
- Poisoning
- Eye Injuries
- Epilepsy
- Heart Attacks
- Shock (Including Anaphylaxis)
This training ensures that participants are well-prepared to handle various emergencies effectively, enhancing overall workplace safety.

Additional Training: The HSE strongly recommends that all students participate in an annual three-hour refresher programme to maintain their Emergency First Aid skills. TrainSafe-UK offers this training for free as part of our ongoing client support for Workplace Safety Training.
Certification: Practical assessment takes place daily by the instructor, along with written evaluations for unit 2. Those who meet the criteria will receive a three-year qualification in First Aid Training.
A maximum of 12 students are permitted in each class, and they must be at least 14 years old. A certificate can be awarded to all, contingent upon assessment.
Students cannot assume workplace responsibilities until they reach the age of 16, at which point it is the employer’s duty to ensure that the student is suitable for their role.
The certificate will expire on the date indicated, regardless of the holder's age.
